Who We Are

Dan

One of the things that you will quickly find out about me is that I love to research anything of interest to me. The greater the interest, the greater the amount of research. Unfortunately, writing bios is not an overly exciting topic for me. I researched writing bios in my free time over several days and most simply indicated that a requirement was to brag about your past accomplishments. At first, I completely disagreed with those articles but finally came up with some of the following insights.

I am privileged to be surrounded by incredible family and friends. I have a great wife and two wonderful kids that bring me great joy. I get to go to work and love what I do everyday. I have people around me that want me to succeed as much as I want them to succeed. And on top of it all, I get to work in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A lot to brag about but little I can take credit for. All of this provides me with a great opportunity to better myself every day.

I am sure that many of my family and friends would want you to know how ‘loyal’ (they may describe it a little more fanatical than I!) I can be around certain product brands. For example, for eight years now I have been an avid fan of most things Apple, my favorite drink is Coke, I love Japanese automobiles (more practical at times than visual I suppose!), and I would be hard-pressed to buy a camera that wasn’t made by Canon.

Rob Woods 2This is my inaugural attempt at writing or blogging of any kind so please be kind. I’ve been in the search marketing game both on the SEO and paid side for almost 7 years now and I’m going to attempt to pass along some of the things I’ve learned along the way. Much of what I have learned has come from attending trade shows, reading blogs, and interacting with some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. Many other insights have come from trial and error and hopefully I can save our readers some time, money, and heartache by passing along some of the things I’ve learned. Having said that if you speak at industry trade shows, this blog won’t likely be advanced enough for you. If you are just starting out or if you run a small business and search marketing is only part of what you do, I think I should be able to impart some useful info.

In my previous life before managing Merchandizing and/or Online Marketing at BuildDirect I worked in  management postions at Home Depot and Chapters, along with various stints in construction, restaurants, and I was even the Great A&W Root Bear for a while.

Like Dan I have great wife and two wonderful kids. Unlike Dan I just kind of like Apple,  my favorite drink is beer (followed by single malt scotch), I love American automobiles (preferrably pre-1968 with a V8), and my camera is a Nikon. I also like fishing, camping, BBQ, cooking, have eclectic tastes in music and reading, and may be forced to indulge myself by throwing in the occasional post on any of those topics.
